Overlooking both the pond and a naturalized meadow (where one of the island’s original ice houses once stood), La Cachette offers the perfect home for vacationers who are looking for a comfortable, convenient home away from home. One large room houses the living areas of La Cachette: kitchen, dining room, and living room. The kitchen is well-equipped with cookware, serving ware and appliances, and offers a breakfast bar with stools. The dining area opens out onto the wide deck with a view of the glorious surroundings. The wood-burning stove in the living room provides warmth in an intimate setting on chilly evenings. Two separate sleeping areas are ideal for multiple families or multiple generations. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a queen-sized bed, while the second bedroom has two twin beds (which can be joined and made up as a king), There is a terrific view of the pond from this level, and even a reading area in the master bedroom. A door at the top of the steps provides privacy and a degree of sound-proofing. Downstairs, the third and fourth bedrooms, equipped with two twins each, are convenient to the living areas of the house. A short walk down the curved driveway and across the meadow (approximately 50 yards) leads to a wooden staircase and a private entrance to the heavenly pond. A visit isn’t complete without collecting pebbles at the pond’s edge, swimming its depths, or paddling the canoe along its perimeter. The outdoor shower at the house is refreshing after a day at the pond or beach. Located at the very end of a gated dirt road off of Lambert’s Cove Road, La Cachette is the perfect setting for a quiet, fun-filled vacation for one or two families. |
